PMSMs are often considered the AC counterpart of BLDC motors, sharing the same basic structure (permanent magnet rotor and wound stator).
Differences from BLDC:
PMSMs use sinusoidal back EMF and stator current, while BLDC motors use square wave drive and trapezoidal back EMF.
